Jingle Horse! – A Christmas Special returns to The Oslo Opera House!

“I can promise a Christmas performance in the best sense of the word, not only a festive atmosphere but also dignified, not only playful but with lots of melancholy.” – Øyen

In 2015 Jingle Horse! was winter guests’ first direct collaboration with The Norwegian Opera & Ballet.

What happens when a bunch of world-weary actors (all with a rather complicated relationship to the festive season) are asked to create a Christmas show in collaboration with a handful of overworked dancers from the Norwegian National Ballet?

In the ensuing chaos, dancers talk until they’re blue in the face, actors dance like their lives depended on it and (despite a marked lack of talent) everyone sings for Jesus… but hey, it’s Christmas!!!

6 Dec- 14 Dec 2017   More info / tickets.

"The ensemble acting of winter guests is so strong it would carry any kind of text you could imagine.” DAGSAVISEN, (NO)

Sinnerman returns to the London Colisuem!

"Daniel Proietto danced like a demon in the spiralling exhuberance of Sinnerman (music Nina Simone) with choreography by Alan Lucien Øyen and a costume so sparkly it could have been a light show.'"- Debra Craine, The Times

As part of Men in Motion Daniel Proietto will perform “…Sinnerman, aferociously demanding solo by Alan Lucien Øyen (Clement Crisp, Financial Times). Men in Motion pays homage to the great dancers and choreographers of the past and showcases some of the most exciting artists at work today.

“So what would cause the 2014 public to gasp in surprise? Daniel Proietto’s glittering body stocking, that’s what. The shocked intake of breath was audible when he walked on stage, and an atmosphere of high anticipation crackled through London’s Coliseum.”- Steward Who, gaystarnews

Opening the Bergen International Festival!

For the second year running winter guests was responsible for the Opening Ceremony of the Bergen International festival. This years event was written and hosted by Andrew Wale together with Suzie Davies, and directed by Alan Øyen.

The event was very well received and particular credit was given to the conceptual choice of using last years criticism towards the festival as satire during this years Opening ceremony. The Bergen Newspapers called it "a turnaround with surgical precision".

Nick Knight films Sinnerman!

Nick Knight films Sinnerman!

We are extremely honoured and proud that Legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight wanted to make a fashion film out of Sinnerman.

Knight first saw Sinnerman when it was presented Ivan Putrov’s Gala "Men in Motion" the London Coliseum last year.

Nick wanted to create the film as a celebration of the majesty of the male dancer - a sublime example of the possibilities of the body and the impact of the moving image.

BASE FUNDING for winter guests!

BASE FUNDING for winter guests!

On March 27, 2012 winter guests received base funding from the Norwegian Arts Council.

As of 2012 the company will receive annual funding aimed towards developing winter guests as a production platform for the creation of innovate and exciting performances. This means not only a strong increase in annual funding, but enables us to fly by the seat of our pants, as the funds are not earmarked specific projects.

We feel proud and humbled with these news. And very, very excited!
